Tweets from the 52th Congressional Baseball Game

The Congressional Baseball Game is an annual baseball game played each summer by members of the United States Congress. The game began as a casual event among colleagues in 1909 by former baseball player, Rep. John Tener of Pennsylvania, and eventually evolved into one of Washington, D.C.’s most wonkiest events. A high school like stand off of Republican and Democrats forming separate teams and play against each other.

In an embarrassing lost, Democrats decimated the Republicans in a shutout, 22-0. And no, you didn’t read that wrong and no the umpire wasn’t IRS’s Lois Lerner. All star player Rep. Richmond (D-LA) pitched 7 shutout innings, and only allowed 4 hits and 2 runs. Yikes! Too bad the storm didn’t come through and save the Republicans.

Here is a collection of the best tweets/photos from last night’s game!
