H Street Festival 2012 Review

Because DC is so unique and diverse it seems like there is a festival every weekend. With the particular gentrified North East of DC, the H Street Festival became a quick hit among DC Locals. With over 35,000 people attending 2011, their goal for 2012 was 50,000 attendee’s. From Noon to 7pm, the 6 blocks hosted local businesses, DC Food trucks, 5 stages, fashion shows and pie eating contest.

Baltimore Rock Opera Society showed up again and entertained the crowd. Besides the ESPN-like booth, they converted an old Saab into the Brothership. The “BROs” use the Brothership to maximize audience participation into their hard-rocking performances.

This photo was better than what we took and thought we’d share. On top of a old police car, owned by Sticky Rice on H street, this artist was using the sun to burn wood as he was doing a portrait of a volunteer.

We hope you were able to visit the H Street festival. We really enjoyed attending and wanted to thank Julia Robey Christian for the press credentials. We look forward to the event next year!
