Last Saturday over 300 participants were unleashed in the Dupont area for the annual DC Whiskey Walk. The DC Whiskey Walk is a day of fun, excitement and entertainment while trying a few Irish whiskeys at DC’s finest bars. It was an all-day event and a perfect way to prepare yourself for St. Patrick’s Day. A portion of the proceeds went to non-profits: Becky’s Fund, Washington Literacy Center, and Agora.
Each participant visited 8 selected bars to receive 1oz shot of an Irish whiskey. The selections were from Kilbeggan, Redbreast, Jamison regular & black barrel (which was the best shot for the record), to Powers. A mighty selection to make you certainly feeling Irish by the end of the evening.
The event started off at James Hobans Irish bar where we checked in and got our credentials. They had ticket raffles for Wizards tickets and a cigar salesman incase you wish to to compliment your whiskey.
Each credential had a map and 8 bars to visit and the selected shots listed that were awaiting upon your arrival.
They also had a bagpiper Mike. He greeted participants at the bars. Few people may know but bagpipers are actually a Scottish tradition. At one point, our team couldn’t find one of the bars but his tunes of Danny Boy pointed us in the right direction. A great addition to the event.
The event was a overall great experience. After talking with many of the participants, everyone seemed to really enjoy the nice Saturday and the opportunity to try so many whiskeys. For a decent priced event, we would certainly recommend this for our friends and plan to do this again next year!
