The report aims to help community groups, small businesses, state and local governments and the public to better understand, monitor and respond to trends in borrowing and indebtedness at the household level.
The population with active student loan debts as a share of the population with a credit record varies substantially. Hawaii is the lowest, with less than 12% of people with a credit report having student debt; in the District of Columbia, over 25% of people with a credit report have student debt.
With the highest education in the country, DC also has the highest average student debt per person ($41,230). Here’s to the 2013 college grads!
